5 DIY Masks That Will Nourish Your Skin During Winter Days

One of the skin’s primary functions is its barrier role, which prevents fluid loss from our body’s surface. This barrier is formed by fats that create a protective lipid layer. Cold air is dry, fat is reduced, and there is a greater loss of fluid from the surface of our skin. The result is dry and rough skin prone to eczema.

During winter, cold and windy days, our skin is exposed to various negative influences, leading to its drying, irritation, and cracking.

On the other hand, heating in rooms with dry and warm air also contributes to additional skin damage.

The winter period is further aggravated by existing chronic diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. Redness and dilated capillaries become visible due to the constant transition from warm to cold.

The good news is that you can avoid such a result by taking additional care to keep your skin healthy, fresh, and hydrated.

To prevent your skin from drying out, it is necessary to care for it in the right way.

Mandatory steps for facial care during winter

Cleaning – is mandatory every morning and every evening. The products you will use for cleaning depend on the type and condition of your skin.

Mask – applied once a week and will help restore the elasticity of your skin. You can use store-bought or prepare it yourself.

Peeling – also repeated once a week or once every two weeks if the skin is dry. Peeling removes accumulated toxins and dead cells from the skin’s surface, after which it regenerates faster.

Hydration – the most important item of any routine. Hydration products are selected based on the type and condition of your skin.

We present you DIY masks and peels that will naturally nourish and hydrate the skin.

DIY Masks

1. Banana mask – mask for dry and normal skin.

Ingredients:

  • banana
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon yogurt

Stir in one banana, one teaspoon of honey, and one teaspoon of yogurt until you get a creamy mixture. Apply to your face and neck and leave on for 15 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

2. Peanut mask – mask for dry skin.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons peanut
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

Grind 2 tablespoons of peanuts and mix with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of olive oil. Apply the mixture to the face and rinse with lukewarm water after 15 minutes.

3. Honey, cinnamon, and yogurt combination face hydration mask.

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

This mask will renew and rejuvenate your skin and restore its moisture and fresh look. You need a third of a cup of yogurt, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, which will stimulate skin circulation. If you have sensitive skin, skip the cinnamon. Apply the mask to your face and leave it on for half an hour. Then rinse.

4. Almonds and rose water as a mask for hydrating the face – for dry skin.

Ingredients: a handful of almonds and 1/2 cup of rose water

Here is a mask that requires a slightly longer preparation process, but believe me, the effort pays off in the end. As soon as you take it off, your face will be refreshed and reborn.

Soak the almonds in milk overnight to soften them. In the morning, grind them into the finest paste and add a little rose water. Apply to face and leave on until dry. Then rinse. The result will delight you.

Almonds are a good option because they contain vitamin E, which is extremely important for healthy skin and protects it from free radicals, above all.

5. Kiwi mask – for dry skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kiwi
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Kiwi is excellent in the fight against wrinkles, and it will give your skin the necessary elasticity. This fruit is abundant in vitamin C, therefore it is great for skin regeneration, so it is recommended to use a kiwi mask once a month after the age of 25. How to make a mask? Peel a kiwi and mash it with a fork. Squeeze out the excess juice and add a teaspoon of honey. Mix well, apply to the face and wait 20 minutes before removing.

6. Facial peeling with honey and green tea – suitable for all skin types

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 – 2 tablespoon green tea
  • 1 tablespoon honey

Make strong green tea (one and a half to two tea tablespoons on two dcl of water) and leave it to cool. Put one tablespoon of honey and stir. This mixture will be rare, but it also depends a lot on the density of the honey. To get a mixture that is thick enough as a paste, add more honey.

After that, wash your face and apply this mask in a circular motion to start removing dead cells from the face.

Green tea is great against pimples and acts as a powerful antioxidant. It is beneficial against wrinkles and for skin regeneration. Honey works against bacteria and fungi, so you disinfect the skin naturally.

And don’t forget! Besides applying DIY masks, you also have to eat sensibly.

Most importantly, during the winter, it is imperative to eat a healthy diet. Eat as many vegetables and fruits in moderation as possible, and drink enough water.

Adequate nutrition will protect you from colds and flu, and your skin will be radiant and healthy, despite the cold weather and lack of sunlight.
