Beautiful lips look attractive to everyone but require additional care, just like the face. That is why you need a practical product that you will be able to use at any time.
Lip balm should be an unavoidable part of your daily routine when it comes to lip care.
The main role of lip balms is to protect and prevent drying and cracking of the lips. At the same time, some of the ingredients nourish the skin and hydrate it. Balms, same as peels, must consist of as many natural ingredients as possible.
One of the most common questions asked about care is, “How do you know you’ve chosen a good product?” Now we will answer that question, but let’s first get acquainted with the ingredients and benefits of natural cosmetics.
Best natural lip balm ingredients
Honey is one of the unavoidable ingredients of natural cosmetics. In addition to the nutritional and healing properties it has for the skin, honey also retains water molecules, so it is considered one of the main moisturizers.
Beeswax has the most crucial role when it comes to natural cosmetics. It gives stiffness to the balm and affects its smearing and texture. In addition to this function, it softens the skin and protects it from external influences.
Essential oils are used primarily for their fragrance. Still, some oils contain additional vitamins and minerals, so they can also have a healing effect.
Coconut/olive/grapeseed oil and its fatty acids can have a beneficial effect on your lip skin because its molecules retain moisture and hydrate well.
Vitamin E is full of antioxidants; it can destroy the effect of free radicals that damage healthy cells and lead to dehydration.
The advantage of natural cosmetics is that they do not contain artificial colors, parabens, preservatives, or other harmful substances and can be used for at least 6 months. Honey is a natural preservative, so the product will not spoil.
You can easily follow these lip balm recipes and, with a bit of effort, you too can make your ideal balm.
Best natural lip balms – How to make:
Lip balm with the addition of vitamin E
- ¼ cup of oil (can be almond, olive, or grapeseed oil)
- a few drops of essential oil for fragrance
- ¼ cup of butter (cocoa, shea, mango, beeswax)
- 1 teaspoon of powdered herbs for color – optional
- 2 capsules of vitamin E.
Put the oil and butter in the microwave for 1-2 minutes to completely melt and combine. Add the beeswax and leave the mixture for a few more minutes in the microwave until the ingredients are completely melted. Stir and add the other ingredients. After you have combined them all, leave them to cool a bit at room temperature and pour the balm into the container provided for that.
- The wax you use can vary in hardness, so we can’t say with utmost certainty what amount you’ll need. You could start with 5-10 grams or one tablespoon. If your balm is harder, feel free to add more oil; if you want it to be harder, add more wax.
- With this amount, you will be able to fill several balm packs.
- This balm can last up to 6 months.
Lip balm with castor oil
- 10g grated beeswax
- 2-3 teaspoons coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon castor oil
- half a teaspoon honey
- a few drops of essential oil
Put the oil and butter in the microwave for 1-2 minutes to completely melt and combine. Add the beeswax and leave the mixture for a few more minutes in the microwave until the ingredients are completely melted. Stir and add the other ingredients. After you have combined them all, leave them to cool a bit at room temperature and pour the balm into the container provided for that.
Natural balm with jojoba
- 1 tablespoon of beeswax
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- ¼ teaspoon of honey
- 8 drops of essential oil
- 1g jojoba oil
- 3 tablespoons coconut or other oil
Grab a bowl and combine the butter, wax, and coconut oil. Melt the blend on low heat, stirring constantly. When it melts, add the other ingredients, all except the essential oil. Stir a little more until combined, remove from the heat, then add the essential oil. All that’s left to do is to pour it into already prepared packaging.
