For some, lips can be the most prominent facial feature. For others, they could be hiding behind mustache hairs (for boys) or represent a medium to express our emotions. People worldwide have the most varying shapes and fullness of lips, and all those lips deserve care and nourishment.
It is important to take care of your lips throughout the year. They are the most sensitive part of the facial skin because they do not have sebaceous glands and almost no hydrolipid layer. This means that lips don’t have all the protective mechanisms the skin has typically.
When the lips become dehydrated, they are drying off.
If the skin is dry for a long time, it cracks and becomes fertile ground for painful and bleeding sores. Even if we don’t mind the way our lips look in this condition, we can feel the unpleasant consequences when speaking or moving them.
We believe that you are already familiar with most of these things for a long time, but let’s refresh our memories about peeling and its importance.
How to exfoliate lips in the right way
Lip and facial peeling serve to remove dead cells from the skin, impurities, bacteria and nourish the skin. The result after peeling – smooth, healthy, and shiny skin.
Quality lip peeling, in addition to being abrasive, also contains a moisturizing component. The moisturizing ingredient reduces abrasion but does not diminish the effectiveness of the peel.
For the peeling to be of high quality, it is necessary to prepare it from as many natural ingredients as possible and perform it correctly.
Proper exfoliation is done by gently rubbing the ingredients on the lips’ skin with your fingers or a brush.
Be careful, though. In case you do not do the peeling properly, you can further damage the skin of the lips. At best, they will only be further cracked and dry. Also, there is a high probability that this will happen more often over time.
In the worst case, you will create sores (wounds) on your mouth.
Lip scrub recipes
One of the advantages of DIY lip scrub is that you can make a more considerable amount and use it multiple times.
With a bit of effort, you too can find and make your ideal scrub. Not to mention that the peeling mixture preparation is a breeze.
Sweetest lip scrub
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1.5 teaspoons of sugar
- 5 drops of vegetable oil (almond, jojoba, coconut, olive, castor, etc.)
In a glass bowl, mix honey and sugar first; when the mixture is blended, add oil and stir. Gently massage your lips for 2-3 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Pumpkin scrub
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin spice mixture
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, and transfer to a jar or bowl with a lid.
Rub the mixture in a circular motion, let it stand for a few minutes, and rinse with lukewarm water. This combination of hydrating peeling will remove all dry skin while nurturing new and prevent the formation of “flakes.”
This amount is sufficient for reuse, so remember to close it firmly and store it in a dry and dark place.
Pucker lips ready
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons white or yellow sugar
- 2-3 drops of essential oil
Heat the honey in the microwave (no longer than 5 seconds, so that the honey does not lose its nutrients), then mix with vegetable oil. Add sugar and mix until you get a compact mass. Pour some essential oil into the mixture for the peeling to get the aroma and additional nutritious and healing properties.
With clean hands, apply the mixture on and around the lips, and leave it on for a few minutes. Before rinsing with lukewarm water, gently massage your mouth in a circular motion to remove dead cells.
